He's come so far

This morning I informed my fiancee of my longing for a couple of Modernica fiberglass side chairs with Eiffel tower bases for our new dining table. "How much are they?" he asked. When I told him "$239," bracing myself for vehement opposition to even dreaming of dining chairs that cost that much, he replied, "Wow, not bad!" I was shocked.

I'm hoping the Eames-inspired side chairs (the ones that get to call themselves "Eames" are the newer molded plastic, not fiberglass, and sold at DWR — even though Modernica is the original manufacturer) will keep the vibe light around our very solid, parsons-style wood dining table.

There's so much heavy, brown wood in our apartment, and anything plastic or metal just pops. Or, in this case, metal and plastic.

At Velocity.

Raison D'etre

Over barbeque yesterday, my new-mom friend said, "your life is really cool right now, did you know that?" I didn't, but here's what she listed off: I just gave notice at my PR firm job with no plans for a replacement (in my financial life, at least), next week I'll find out if I made the cut to blog on apartmenttherapy.com, next month I'm traveling solo to Japan and next year I'm getting married. And I'm childless, which in her sleep-deprived state earns me at least a sideways glance or two through rose-colored glasses.

And I th0ught—why not record it before I miss it.

This Is My Bright Future.

Here's to the dubious assumption that the things that interest me will interest you.
